3 Wheeled Buggies
A 3-wheeler can be utilized for off-road trails and for tackling terrain such as uneven paths or woodland tracks. They are also more easy to maneuver up and down kerbs than models with four wheels.
MadeForMums reviews editor Kath tried one of these three-wheelers while with her newborn and three year old, and put it through its paces on road and on a rocky surface. You can read her full review here.
Stability
With four wheels and a center of gravity that's balanced by weight of your child's seat, buggies with four wheels are generally thought to be more stable than 3-wheelers. However, that doesn't mean an older model with three wheels isn't worth considering, as some of these models are made to handle anything from rough terrain to bustling high streets.
If you want a buggie that is easy to control and will not fall over on bumpy pavements, look for one with large rear wheels and a lockable front wheel. These all-terrain buggies often have pneumatic tyres, too. They are great at handling uneven surfaces and can even be used on sandy beaches or tracks in woodland.
These are also the best buggies for jogging with, as they provide excellent stability over rough terrain and aid in keeping up with your running partner. They're also good at climbing and down steep kerbs, and most of them come with a suspension built in that means your baby will have a pleasant ride.
A 3-wheeled stroller isn't easy to maneuver due to its wide frame. It can be more difficult to get through narrow spaces and doorways than a 4-wheeler. However certain manufacturers have addressed this issue by implementing a clever design that makes the wheels flip up when they are not being used, which reduces their overall size and allows you get through doors with ease.
If yes, make sure to check for a lie-flat positioning and also whether the design is compatible with second seats and buggy boards (if you'd like to add an infant onboard). Check if the buggy has an option to lie flat and if it's compatible with a second seat and buggy boards if you intend to bring your toddler along. Many 3-wheelers will fold flat and can be positioned upright when collapsed - handy if you have a small car boot or a small storage space at home. Some 3-wheelers require you remove the front wheel in order to fold into smaller spaces.

3 wheeler pushchair -wheeled buggies are more movable than four-wheeled strollers. Many of them have an swivelling wheel at the front which allows you to control and change direction with one hand. Some models also come with a lockable front wheels that can provide the stability you need on rough terrain. Certain models can be used with an additional buggy or seat, if you plan to expand your family.
If you're thinking of taking your three-wheeled buggy off paved tracks, it's worth choosing one equipped with tyres filled with air (also called pneumatic tyres) that can withstand the toughest terrain. They will require pumping up occasionally but they'll be more durable than solid tyres and are more likely to be puncture-proof. You should look for models with an adjustable front wheel that is locked to help you navigate difficult surfaces.
A single front wheel can also mean that three-wheelers tend to be more bulkier than buggies with four wheels when folded. Check that your chosen model can fit into the boot of your vehicle and can be stood up, in the event that it is necessary. Some models can be folded using one hand and can be rearranged when folded. This can save space in small car boot.
A quality three-wheel pushchair will take on any terrain, from busy streets to forest tracks. It's important to consider how you will use it every day. If you're planning to run the school run, it ought to be able to cope with steep slopes and kerbs. If you'll be jogging with it, ensure it has an adjustable lockable swivelling'stretch' for the front wheel to keep the ride safe.
MFM reviewer Kath discovered her three-wheeled buggy was able to handle well on rural and urban walks. Kath said it was able to negotiate rocky paths, cobbles and uneven pavements with ease and was comfortable when running. It's also a great option for day trips as it offers plenty of storage space, including a huge ample basket with a zip-top cover and an extendable 50+ UV hood. It can be adjusted to meet the needs of a baby from birth, with an infant carry cot or a lying-flat seats. It's also compatible with the most popular second-seats and stroller boards.
Fabric Sling Seat
The main difference between a seat made of fabric and a modular seat is the fabric sling. It is a part of the frame of the buggy, instead of being placed on top of it like a modular chair. This enables a much more ergonomically correct position for baby and instantly provides lower center of gravity that is at the proper height. This leads to a more comfortable push, a less hefty curb-pop (you don't need to exert as much effort and weight to lift the buggy off the curb) and improved balance and stability.
These seats also come with sling fabrics that are easy to clean and durable. Made specifically for the use of sling chairs in mind These fabrics are extremely durable and breathable. These fabrics are also very easy to maintain using mild soap and warm water.
If you're a jogger, or like to do some off-roading, an all-terrain 3 wheeler will be more your bag than a buggy with four wheels. These models tend to have a wider base, more stable, and utilise air filled tyres to ensure smooth, easy movement on rough ground.

3-wheel buggies are more stable than strollers with four wheels, which makes them ideal for off-road and all terrain adventures. The large, extremely maneuverable front wheel allows for agile and smooth movement, whereas the tyres are typically filled with air and have suspension, providing an excellent ride on even the most difficult roads and trails. They're also great for walking up hills as the wheels aren't as close ground as they are on 4 wheel pushchairs.
Parents who love to run and jog with their babies often choose 3-wheel prams because they are more agile and sleeker than their four-wheel counterparts. The GB Upp XL, for example, has an elegant burnished aluminum frame that has a simple one-handed fold as well as rear-facing and forward-facing seats. The Babyzen Yoyo, on the other hand, comes with black frames with an infant carrycot that can be placed in a fully lie-flat position, and has tyres that are air-filled.
